One puts aside those conceptional doubts, lets them go, and pushes them away. What is unplugging in reality?

For me it’s not a resort or some Cruise. Since I don’t drink, booze offers nothing. The idea of staying in hotels has no appeal at all. Many who love city life would enjoy things I don’t. I don’t like cities. I can do a day trips but feel completely drained after the experience. Bushwalking and hiking are at the top of my list. Sleeping in the bush in a tent in a remote location is my favourite. Unplugging from society is difficult because of the dense population. Some people are happy to sit in a large parks.We need to figure out what we need. It’s vital to understand what recharges us. We cannot keep going week in week out with flat batteries. Flat batteries can destroy relationships and have negative consequences on health. We all know this! What we forget about is tolerance…we build up a tolerance to stress and busyness. I was diagnosed with Bipolar and PTSD many years ago. It has offered different experiences and insights on how to manage poor mental health well. My blog is not about mental illness.

The Paradoxical Conundrum of Relaxation and Meditation!

Meditation is predominantly taught in western countries as a none religious therapy. It’s fascinated me when I first discovered it. I cannot say I am a highly accomplished mediator. However, I have learnt and practised meditation with what would be categorized as religious meditation and also my own practices of nonreligious. The whole of the Buddha’s teachings may be summed up in three words: morality, mental concentration, and wisdom, sila, samadhi and pañña. This is the threefold division of the Noble Eightfold Path leading to deliverance from the misery of Samsara. And of this Eightfold Path, right speech, action and livelihood are included in morality, or sila; right effort, mindfulness and concentration in mental concentration, or samadhi; right understanding and thought in wisdom, or pañña. Of these three stages, morality constitutes the foundation without which no real progress along the Eightfold Path to purity and deliverance is possible.
